Gothic Hurdy-Gurdy

Gotischlogo

T hey issued documents to those who requested them which showed the years of indulgence. The following inscription is to be seen:

"He who will not shall be broiled, roasted or cut into small pieces and shall burn in Hell for evermore, he buys indulgencies. Mercy and forgiveness for little money:
God shall reckon with him."

And the buyers came in droves from an area of two miles.

Charles de Coster
"Ulenspiegel"

A precisely detailed reconstruction according to the Tryptichon "The Garden of Desire" from Hieronymus Bosch, ca. 1500, Prado, Madrid. This is the first hurdy gurdy to show a trumpet bridge.
The arrangement of the strings suggests a drone in fifths (vox humana) which contributes to a slender overall sound, rich in overtones and which carries well.
High identification value for the theatre and for medieval plays.
